Swedish Meatballs recipe
This yummy meatball recipe is ideal for serving as a midweek dinner, as it's quick and can be rustled up in just 45 minutes. Serve them with a creamy sauce made from the pan juices, flour and cream or if you prefer, a tomato based sauce.
Ingredients:
- 800g minced beef
- 1 garlic clove
- 60g breadcrumbs
- 60ml cream
- 25g butter
- 1 onion
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- Pinch of allspice
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper
Method of Preparation:
Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic clove.
Soak the breadcrumbs in the cream.
Meanwhile, heat the butter and oil together and fry the onion in the mixture until softened. Transfer to a large bowl.
Add the beef, garlic, nutmeg, allspice, egg, salt and pepper and breadcrumb mixture to the onions and thoroughly combine everything together.
Shape into meatballs and place into an oven dish. Cover with foil and cook at 200C for 20-30 minutes, until cooked through.
